Take a “Journey to the Center of the Earth”
Visconti of Florence, in conjunction with Bittner, The Pleasure of Writing in Carmel, CA, is delighted to announce its latest incarnation of the Homo Sapiens series. Designed in collaboration with Detleft Bittner, the Visconti Homo Sapiens Magma, made of volcanic lava from Mount Etna in Italy, has arrived!
Exclusively at Bittner, the Pleasure of Writing, the Magma arrives packaged with a free Visconti Traveling Inkwell, so you can fill your pen on the go — a $70 value!
What child was not enthralled by Jules Verne’s Journey to the Center of the Earth culminating in a harrowing ride through an eruption of magma? Classic!
Just to think that after billions of years the core of our Planet Earth is still molten, red hot magma. It's no wonder we are all fascinated and awed by the sheer power of magma and lava!
From the cataclysmic eruptions that destroyed Atlantis and Pompeii in ancient history, to the more recent eruptions on Montserrat, Hawaii at fissure 8 and Mount Etna, the volcanic eruptions continue to shape the face of Earth and hold humankind in thrall of their enormous power.
Now behold the awesome power of Magma in your hand!
The Homo Sapiens now comes in the "Magma" edition featuring red trims symbolizing the eruption of molten lava through the volcano's passageways. The glossy red metal trims give a fiery contrast against the matte black lava of the pen's body. The Visconti Homo Sapiens Magma is a worthy companion of the Homo Sapiens Bronze Age and the Homo Sapiens Dark Age.
Visconti shook the fountain pen industry with a breakthrough both in design and use of materials when the original Homo Sapiens Bronze Age was launched. Basaltic Lava Rock is ground into a powder and reconstituted with a new age polymer to a create a space-age material with some incredible qualities:
Virtually unbreakable. Flame-proof — heat resistant to over 100° C. Slightly hygroscopic — absorbs moisture during use. Dense to the touch — comfortable to grip and relaxing to write with.
The pen encompasses the strength of ancient powers, juxtaposing its volcanic nature with a soft and smooth writing experience thanks to its Dreamtouch 23K Palladium nib. This award-winning writing tool was followed by the Homo Sapiens Dark Age designed with black ruthenium trims. Today, the Homo Sapiens collection is still one of Visconti's signature writing instruments.
The Homo Sapiens Magma is available as a fountain pen, rollerball pen, and ballpoint pen. The rollerball and fountain pen are available in maxi size, and the fountain pen fills using the patented Visconti power filler system and is enhanced with Visconti's 23kt Palladium Dreamtouch black ruthenium nib.
