Fountain Pens

A fountain pen is a writing instrument with a metal nib that uses water-based ink for an unparalleled writing experience. A rollerball pen also uses water-based ink but instead utilizes, as the name would suggest, a roller-ball writing mechanism, and the more common ballpoint pen uses petroleum-based, viscous inks.

Fountain pens separate themselves amongst writing instruments by providing the smoothest, most luxurious writing experience amongst other fine-writing implements. The flow of ink from the reservoir or cartridge of the instrument to the paper is sustained through capillary action, providing a steady, consistent application of ink.

Due to the ink being water-based, a cap is almost always necessary to prevent the ink from drying out.
